Send the mom in your life flowers!

Sunday is Mother’s Day in the US, so I’m starting with heartfelt greetings to…

  • my Mom and other moms who are on the heavenly subscription plan.

  • all the moms here in physical form

  • all the mom-like figures

  • all the Mr. Moms

  • all the moms-to-be

  • anyone who appreciates Mother’s Day, but also feels their ♥️ 💔 on this day dedicated to moms.

And, as I’ve done the past two Mother’s Days, I’m sharing a tribute to my mom (RIP♥️) to let you all know how awesome she was and to remind us that moms in general are The Best Influencers on the Planet.

Plus they don’t take half your life savings, like the advice givers on Instagram.

After you’re done reading that… some questions to answer or just reflect on:

What is your favorite advice or saying from your mom?

~Or~

What advice have you repeated 1000 times as a mom? (Or big sister, BFF, etc.)

♥️ Leave a comment or drop a message! ♥️

To answer my own question, the saying from my mom that I think of almost every day is…This Too Shall Pass.

She said it to me a million times ~ for friend troubles, school stressors, job uncertainty, physical ailments, and any other problem I had.

You name it, she’d counsel me, and then end with her signature reminder…

This Too Shall Pass.

And wouldn’t you know, that’s What I’d Rather Be Talking About this week:

This Too Shall Pass is solid advice for tough times.

It’s a reminder that better times are ahead if we have faith & hang in there.

~ However ~

This Too Shall Pass is also solid advice for good times.

I’m talking about special occasions, trips, family dinners, lunches, walks, talks, and low-key things like doing the dishes together.

In these cases, This Too Shall Pass reminds us to be present…

because, as we all know, those times pass too.

The takeaway?

Remember that good times and tough times are fleeting,

and a logical follow up to This Too Shall Pass is to make the most of every moment.

With those wise words, wishing you a happy day, and a wonderful weekend & Mother’s Day.

Now, read on and find a nice Mother’s Day gift for your mom/wife/sister/bestie/mom-figure!

gift ideas for mom (plus fun shopping links)

  • Start with these Mother’s Day Gift Guides, or maybe just snatch this digital picture frame, these delicious last-minute gifts, or how about a subscription for flowers? All solid choices.

  • Meanwhile, maybe you want to do some shopping with mom. Here are the items to buy in May, what’s on sale at Nordstrom, and everyone feels pretty when they shop at Farm Rio.

  • Guys, I got you too. (Because the Mrs. can’t stand looking at those scraggly polos a day longer.) Upgrade your wardrobe with some seriously slick options from Collar & Co.

M&M’s make everything better. Including a golf locker room. (Find out where to find this in the Real Food Traveler Podcast below.)

  • Spinach doesn’t have to be the same-old-same-old, try these low carb, high protein spinach fritters. (#show stoppers)

  • Since I’m salad obsessed, I was so happy to find a cookbook called Salad for President (not a bad idea, either). Love the layout, recipes, and stories throughout. A leafy green win. (Plus, the author, Julie Sherman, has a Substack by the same name.)
