It's My Birthday and I've Got Some Treats for You
Sorry, no homemade chocolate chip cookies, but some fun things await you below.
Hi All!
Today is my birthday, and therefore you’re getting a surprise pop up newsletter.
This intro will be quick because I’m writing this in the wee hours of the morning and my creative juices aren’t flowing yet. So hang on for a brief message and then deliver some treats below.
On the topic of birthdays.
Let me just say this - birthdays are strange. On one hand, they’re obviously reminders that we’re aging. They make you wonder, “How am I this old? Wasn’t my last birthday like 45 seconds ago?”
I mean really.
But on the other hand, as cliché as it sounds, birthdays are cool… because they actually stop us in our tracks and force us to consider not only where we’ve come from, but also just how far we’ve come.
As I was thinking about this, it dawned on me… maybe instead of beating ourselves up for the number, we should celebrate everything we’ve accomplished and let’s be honest, survived. And also, maybe we should think about all of the amazing people we’ve met along the way who add so much to our lives.
Everyone plays a role in this unfolding drama we call life.
That’s a heavy, but cool concept to think about.
Birthdays are also a chance to go even deeper and remind ourselves… Hey, McFly, slow down for a second. Because… this is it.
And it… goes pretty damn fast. So maybe it’s time to really start savoring the good moments just a bit more and spend less time worrying about the silly stuff.
Which btw, isn’t most everything silly stuff? Let’s not give the low points more screen time than they deserve.
Because … life goes fast.
One minute you’re in third grade handing out actual birthday treats, the next you’re sharing the love through a newsletter that’ll hopefully be picked up by readers around the world.
Crazy.
So I’ll leave you with this.
Thank you for being part of my life and for reading this morning’s message and coming back here every week.
It means a lot.
With that, I’ll stop babbling and get to the links.
But first, one more treat.
Take care 🩷,
Abbey
