A rainy day in my favorite city, Madrid.

Hello Newsletter Pals,

I guess I should start this newsletter by saying things are actually cool on my end. (I feel I should clarify that because the title might suggest otherwise.)

Life is just really busy now. It’s one of those “seasons” (a word I despise but fits the bill) where not only do I have a ton of balls in the air, they’re very important balls. Amazing client projects on the horizon, a golf trip to Mississippi, and a bathroom remodel that is going well.

Those are the Instagram “look how swell things are” updates.

Behind every pretty salad pic is someone who has fifty things on their mind. “I’ll take a pic of this salad and maybe it’ll make my to-do list go away…” Brooke Lark on Unsplash

But we all know that even when things are good, we still have to do hard things.

When you combine hard things with a list of good things, the hard things don’t get neutralized by the good. They’re still hard, and you end up a bit

  • stressed out

  • tired because you’re waking up in the middle of night when your to-do lists make guest appearances in your dreams

  • overwhelmed

  • testy

  • frazzled

  • feeling like it’s exam week in college, wondering if you’ll ever get everything done

Well. Since I’m obviously writing from experience, finding relief in the busiest times of life is What I’d Rather Be Talking About this week.

But here’s the deal.

I’m not going to pontificate about how we should “not worry, it’ll all get done.”

That’s BS advice that only annoys someone with a lot on their plate.

Rather, I want to remind you

(and myself)

that when things are busy beyond belief,

we can’t forget to pause and take care of ourselves.

Make it a small gesture or do something dramatic like take an afternoon off for a massage, facial, or glorious nap.

The point is, do something for you.

For the love of everything holy, take a minute to recharge.

You’ll come back better than ever.

I’m doing that tomorrow - getting a facial in the middle of the day.

Because folks, I need one.

Go do something similar. Okay?

And in the meantime, I’ve got some links below that will make your life a little easier, healthier, and more fun.

Enjoy!

Abbey

Before the links … I’m continuing with my March theme of highlighting Women-Owned Businesses.

This week’s Female Biz Owner Shoutout…

This week I’m highlighting a very cool artist named Evie. Evie’s pottery is incredible and her motto is even better….
Be kind, have fun, and do what you love to do because YOU love to do it!

Evie clearly loves making pottery and her work shows it! Check out her amazing creations on Etsy, and follow her on FB or Instagram.
