👩🏻‍🏫 What I’d Rather Be Talking About

Launching today with a little story.

Last week was busy in the sense that if my work were represented in the number of open tabs on my laptop, I’d need exponents to give you a count.

But get in line, right? That’s most of us. (I see you.)

Well, somewhere in the middle of it all, I paused to work on a social media post.

I wanted to nail it in a heartfelt way, but didn’t have a ton of time.

And I didn’t want to ask the aliens for help.

After spending way too much time reworking the post, it was finally ready to be launched.

And here too, I didn’t have time to monkey around.

(You’d be surprised at how long a simple post description sometimes takes.)

I wanted it to be easy - cut/paste/write description/post - wham bam. 🤓

Well.

Finally, my post was ready for its trip into Cyberspace…

I clicked the appropriate keys.

Or so I thought…

But it was one of those times where you click,

and the nanosecond you do, you realize you’ve screwed up. 😳

Instead of posting, my message vaporized.

POOF. 💨

See ya. ✌️

I shrieked. 😱

My husband hollered from his office, “You okay?” 📢

In a frenzy of caveman talk, I spat out - post - gone - deleted - #&kI/

Somehow, he understood and asked…

“Have you tried Control Z?” ⌨

Then he stepped over to my computer, control-Z’d, and BAM!

Message restored.

(insert choir of 😇)

And as you may have guessed, Control Z is absolutely What I’d Rather Be Talking About this week.

You guys.

In all my years online, I never knew about Control Z.

The magical combo that can undo deletion mistakes.

Bring lost ideas back to life.

All the times I’d kicked myself, thinking I’d screwed up with no reprieve,

it turns out I could have done something.

But I didn’t know about those two buttons, promising to restore mistakes and let me get on with my day…

even though they were freakin’ always there.

Which brings me to my news.

Control Z exists in life, too.

When we think we’ve screwed up beyond repair…

There’s always something that can be done.

Sometimes all we need to do is ask for help.

And we’ll discover the solution was right in front of us all along.

Control Z for the win.

And if there are any keyboard hacks you use every day that could possibly enlighten me… please leave them in the comments. I clearly need all the help I can get.

And now, let’s get on with the show.

🥗 Wellness for real people

  • A new formula to help you track if you’re getting enough daily steps. Or you could skip the math and just walk more.

  • Sleep is essential, and some experts say weighted blankets can help us get better Z’s. Me? Not a fan. I’d rather drink my Z’s with AGZ (from the makers of AG1). It’s new and I just got a batch. So far, my review is, “Delicious. And, the stuff knocks me out.” A win.

  • Getting out of your head and taking your power back… should be a life skill taught in school. Find out how to do it on this episode of To Be Magnetic.

  • Another life tip? Stop multi-tasking. Apparently, it’s no bueno.

🎧 Podcasts you need to hear

  • A new concept in getting ahead in your finances… microdosing… is not as new as it seems.

  • There are so many issues to consider when helping an aging parent navigate later life. Money is a big one, and Farnoosh Torabi tackles this topic in this episode of the SoMoney podcast.

  • Speaking of money, on this episode of Jean Chatzky’s Her Money, learn the estate planning strategies every woman needs to know.

🧳 Travel for fall & exclusive insider info

  • As a travel writer, I’m 100% writing off my recent purchase of the AirPods Pro 3 - they can track heart rate and serve as a translator. What? (And thanks, Liz Plosser of Best Case Scenario for this hot tip, and all the other wellness facts you feed me each week.)

  • Speaking of travel writing, if you’re a paid subscriber, you’re in for a treat. I’ll be releasing special travel tips and highlights of my upcoming trips… maybe in real time? One never can tell in internetland.

  • Tell me what’s better than exploring a city on foot? If you agree, get your cross body bag (swanky or budget friendly) and comfy shoes (these are mine) ready for the 10 best walkable US cities.

  • I know we just had summer, but if you still crave beach time, consider these tropical deals. And not listed, but if you’re going somewhere, why not make it Mallorca? I visited the island last year and would go back in a nano second.

Delightfully sunny is how I’d described Mallorca. Which is why a sun-protective Wallaroo Hat was my BFF the entire trip
  • Speaking of sun protection and travel, later this fall I’ll be releasing a travel series based on my trips to Portugal and Spain covering two incredible missions - a golf and wellness tour with a twist you might not expect (I’ll give you a hint at the end of this newsletter) and a language immersion in Spain like none other. I can’t wait to share
